Adidas x Parley for the Ocean
On Friday, November 4th Adidas x Parley for the Ocean unveiled their first collab. The Adidas x Parley for the Ocean collaboration consisted of performance products such as soccer jerseys and running shoes.
The environmental movement company, Parley for the Oceans is a company that addresses threats to our beautiful blue oceans. This partnership will be the first to make mass-produced shoes out of up-cycled marine plastic waste recovered by Parley. The goal of the alliance is to bring global awareness and take action of the threat or ocean plastic pollution.
Adidas x Parley for the Ocean Performance Products
The Adidas UltraBoost Uncaged Parley running shoe is influenced by ocean waves. The Uncaged has a knitted upper built with 95% Ocean Plastic and 5% recycled polyester. Laces, heel cap base material , heel webbing, heel lining and the sock-liner cover are made of recycled materials. Only 7,000 pairs are going to be available.
The soccer jerseys is created with up-cycled marine plastic debris, and water-based environmentally friendly prints. Each team has a different and unique jersey. Both have their own logo, sponsors’ logo, and three stripes.
Soccer jerseys are for the world leading teams: Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Munich wore their red Parley jerseys when they went against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on November 5th. Real Madrid will wear their white Parley jerseys when they play Real Sporting de Gijon on November 26th.

Adidas Executive Board member said that the partnership will continue. They want to create one million pairs of shoes using Parley Ocean Plastic in 2017. At least 11 million bottles will be retrieved from coastal areas by Parley Global Clean-up Network. The plastic will be repurposed into elite sportswear.
The founder of Parley for the Oceans stated how it’s no longer about raising awareness, but about taking action. The UltraBoost Uncaged Parley will be available to purchase during late November. The jerseys will be available as each club faces their rivalry teams.
