Introducing the Atmos Air Max 1 x Jordan III Pack
Another exciting new release is the Atmos Air Max 1 x Jordan Pack! The pack’s Air Max 1 incorporates a vibrant jade Jumpman logo hit on one the sole. Meanwhile, the Air Jordan III comes in Nike’s iconic Safari print for the first time — a tribute to both the 1987 Nike Air Safari, and atmos’ 2002 gum-soled Air Max 1 design.
When first released the Nike Air Max 1 Visible Air provided unmatched cushioning while striking visual design by Tinker Hatfield set the stage for countless recreations and collaborations. By the same token, the Jordan brand has set high standards as a basketball shoe and streetwear.
Boutiques around the world collaborated on the Nike Air Max 1 with much avail. All the design releases were popular but fleeting. In order to get your hands on most of the shoes, you would need to have an international connect to avoid a secondary market.
A highly distinguished shoe was the premium pair atmos from 2007. Atmos layered the Air Jordan III’s iconic elephant print onto a basic black and white, suede and leather upper set off by a jade Swoosh. On Air Max Day 2016 the general public chose the Atmos Air Max 1 Elephant as the design they wanted to see return the most.
Creative Director, Hirofumi Kojima, discussed the shoe, his love of Jordan and Air Max culture in general with Nike News. When asked why he chose elephant print and the combination of AM1 and Jordan he answered, “I grew up watching Michael Jordan and my first Nike (Jordan) was Air Jordan 1 Chicago made in 1994. The Air Jordan III is my personal favorite, which was the first one to use elephant pattern on a shoe. Air Max 1 Elephant was one of 3 shoes made under the concept of zoo, which was inspired by elephants swimming in the zoo.”
The Atmos Air Max 1 x Jordan Pack releases March 18 at select retailers globally. For more info and to go behind the design of the Nike Air Max 1 atmos “Elephant” visit Nike+ SNKRS.
