NBA Star Paul George and the Nike PG1 Ferocity
Get your hands on the Nike PG1 as soon as March 4th! Designer Tony Hardman and NBA player Paul George got together to create this heartfelt shoe. All the elements of the shoe’s design are well thought out and meaningful.
Surprisingly, one of the main aspects of the shoe, the foot strap, came from a sketch that Paul George presented to Hardman. The foot strap’s Flywire technology system provides adaptive support for every shoe wearer.
The shoe’s traction part resemble fish scales due to it being on of George’s treasured past times. He and his father, Paul George Sr. enjoy fishing together. The multidirectional scale-inspired blade traction provide amazing grip of the court.
Personal details dear to the NBA star make this shoe significant. The medial side of the left shoe has the date 5-1-15 inscribed in honor of his daughter Olivia’s first birthday. The right shoe has George’s date of birth, 5-2-90, on the medial side. The right heel tab features a silver stripe that serves as a reminder to the titanium rod used to repair George’s tragic right-leg fracture.
George’s nickname PG-13 inspired the 13s on the shoe’s heel. George Paul’s mother Paulette inspired the hints of purple on the shoe. The Pacer’s team colors obsidian blue and yellow are also an essential aspect of the shoe. After all he dedicates his life to his team.
On the tongue is the simply sophisticated PG logo. His initials in the logo make the shape of a bowtie. Hardman and George assured each color-way, from hairy suede to scaled leather, incorporates a unique and high quality feel.
Even the PG1 box is unique. It is decorated with clouds because Paul George asked Hardman to deign a shoe that felt like “clouds on his feet.”
George becomes Nike Basketball’s fourth active signature athlete, and the 21st basketball player to receive a signature shoe from Nike. The PG1 Ferocity colorway will be available globally on March 4 at a suggested retail price of $110.
