Of course, inspiration for this line came from the Yucatan. The Yucatan is a special place to the Akomplice co-founder, Patrick Liberty, because he lives in Akumal.
The shoe as a whole has bits and pieces that represent the Yucatan’s ecosystem. The light green on the insole, tongue tag and heel represent the luscious green jungle and the Caribbean Sea. Additionally the purple on the outsole, logo and lining are symbolic of the ocean coral and the fruit produced by the tropical climate. Finally the light brown base symbolizes the sand and limestone of the region.
Photographer, Atticus Radley, shot Brooklyn-based hip-hop artist, rMell and visual artist, DaRaun, in the collection in New York.
